Oct 14th - West Gable

It's raining, snowing and sleeting; a wet, soggy and dreary day. Greenbay and I decide to work under the cover of our new decking which is covered with 30 pound felt. This is the first time I've seen the floor actually dry! We decide to work on the west gable and while Greenbay cuts, I install and nail the framing on the gable. We have had to move the location of the uppermost gable windows up as high as possible to have enough clearance for the insulated panels to be installed on the roof. By noon we have the west gable end completely framed including the opening for the opposing window.

Afternoon we tackle laying out the interior walls around the bathroom and laundry area. It's great working with Greenbay and while I have framed numerous walls over the years, Greenbay has a consistent and easy way to lay out and frame walls. His way is simple, accurate and straight forward. We have had to notch the bottom plates over the warm board so we can easily install the in floor tubing under the walls. We have one wall up and all the trimmers and corners pre-made by the end of the day.
